Call for Working Group members

Climate Ready Tayside is setting up working groups to start delivering our Vision and Priorities. Everyone is invited to get involved, we need a range of different people, sectors and perspectives to make our work successful.

What are the working groups?

Our Vision and Priorities cover a wide range of topics, so we have selected three topics to focus on this year. The three topics selected by 20+ people from local organisations and groups are:

  • Communication and Engagement. Develop a strategy and key messaging to raise awareness of climate change impacts in Tayside and how to take action.
  • Nature Based Solutions. Identify opportunities for nature restoration and nature-based adaptation than can reduce climate impacts in Tayside, plus share best practice.
  • Health and Community Resilience. Understand how climate change is impacting communities and health in Tayside, develop resources for community resilience groups and a framework to prioritise vulnerable people and places within decision making.

What does joining a working group involve?

Joining a working group involves a 1 hour online meeting every 2 months, plus 2-3 hours between meetings to complete actions assigned to you. Each working group will define their own scope, objectives, roles and responsibilities, and ways of working, with admin support from Climate Ready Tayside’s secretariat. The groups may occasionally meet in person, we can cover travel and childcare costs for these meetings if this would otherwise be a barrier to joining.

No previous experience or professional qualifications are needed to join a working group – we are looking for a range of different people and views to help develop and sense check our work.

What will you gain?

By joining a working group you will gain knowledge and practical experience of how to adapt to climate change in way that creates many other benefits. You will get the chance to collaborate with a group of people from across Tayside who are passionate about making our people, places and organisations more resilient.
